On the occasion of the "Novecento Italiano" organized by the Municipality of Milan, a program which documents the history of art from the historical avant-gardes to the contemporary, the “Fondazione Stelline” presents the exhibition “Contributions to the twentieth century. From Boccioni to Rotella to the contemporaries”, curated by Bruno Corà and Tonino Sicoli.
The aim of the exhibition is to make the 20th century collection of the MAON - Museum of the Nineteenth and Twentieth Century Art in Rende (CS) - known to the broad public.
On display you can find thirty-five works that proceed chronologically from the early twentieth century to the twenty-first century, exhibited in two main sactions: "1900-1945 / The Historical Avant-Garde and the Italian Twentieth century” and  “1945-2000 / The Post-War Era and the New Trends”.

The showpiece of the collection is an unpublished pre-futurist painting by Umberto Boccioni Paesaggio marino con alberi (1908), painted during the Milanese period of the artist.
Another prominent personality of the exhibition is Mimmo Rotella, one of the main artists of Nouveau Réalisme, the artistic movement that has been the trait d'union between Dadaism and Pop Art. He loves including in his paintings ready-made object and the icons of cinema advertising.
Among the works of over 30 artists, there are also the assemblages of bronze objects and twigs by Alik Cavaliere, professor and director of the Brera Academy in Milan, as well as one of the first artists who exhibited at the Fondazione Stelline.

The exhibition obtained the Patronage of Regione Lombardia, Regione Calabria, the City of Milan and the City of Rende, and it is organized in collaboration with the associations “Centro “A. Capizzano” and “Aleph Arte”.
